A couple of months ago I picked up a few Linux based podcasts, which I mostly listen to on BeyondPod on my Note 5 Android phone:
After rejoining mintCast, chatting them in the IRC channel during the live recording, I went ahead and installed Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) 32 bit on my Asus EeePC 1000 Netbook.
Although the device is 10 years old, it still runs quite well.
I also use it as a portable Oric Atmos emulator running Oricutron.
Talking of Asus, on Black Friday I purchased the this Chromebook from Amazon for $499, a saving of $150.
ASUS
Chromebook Flip C302CA-DH54 12.5-inch Touchscreen Convertible
Chromebook Intel Core m5, 4GB RAM, 64GB Flash Storage, All-Metal Body,
USB Type C, Corning Gorilla Glass, Chrome OS
Really loving this machine as a portable computer that is also light on weight at less than 3lb. It is also excellent at running Android Apps.
Last week I stopped posting generally to Google+ since it is going away next year, apart from the Solus community there which are still looking for new social home.
It is a social medium platform, which is kinda a blend of G+ and Facebook.
On MeWe I discovered the Tech and Coffee group
Finding myself talking with the geeks of Tech and Coffee pretty much daily on Google Video Hangouts. Great bunch!
On Saturday 1st December 2018 I took part in a 2 hour video chat with Rocco and others on Big Daddy Linux Live.
During the show we were given a choice of distro to install and review next Saturday. I picked Enso OS
https://www.enso-os.site
Made the mistake of trying to dual-boot install Enso alongside Solus KDE on my 2nd laptop, as it totally messed up my grub boot settings. Ended up grabbing my data, scrubbed the drive, and reinstalled Solus KDE.
Last night I picked up an HP Pavilion P6243W desktop. The HDD is on the way out but worked enough to install and run Enso. Have ordered a new 500GB Hitachi HDD from Amazon for $30.
It has the following spec:
CPU: Dual core AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+
GPU: AMD RV620 LE - Radeon HD 3450
RAM: 4GB
This PC shall be my Linux distro tester and shall work well for that task.
